Over the past few years, the world of aesthetics has evolved in so many exciting ways. There are more treatments, more innovation, and more access than ever before. But with that growth, there’s also been a subtle shift — one that patients don’t always recognize right away.
At times, aesthetics can begin to feel less about the patient… and more about the provider. As a provider for over 23 years, I’m watching this unfold often (and I’m sick of it).
Social media has brought incredible visibility to our field. It’s allowed providers to educate, inspire, and showcase beautiful results. But it has also created an environment where trends move quickly, visibility is rewarded, and being seen as “the expert” can sometimes take center stage. And when that happens, something important can get lost.
Because the most beautiful, natural results don’t come from ego or trends — they come from listening.
They come from understanding the patient sitting in front of you. Their goals, their lifestyle, their comfort level, and what feels right for them — not what’s popular or what’s being showcased online.True aesthetic medicine should never feel one-size-fits-all. It should feel collaborative, thoughtful, and intentional.
In my experience, the best outcomes happen when there’s a partnership. When patients feel comfortable asking questions, expressing concerns, and being part of the decision-making process. You should never feel like something is being done to you — you should feel like it’s being done with you.
That also means recognizing that more is not always better. Sometimes the most impactful results come from subtle, well-placed treatments over time. A small amount. A thoughtful adjustment. A plan that evolves with you.
It requires restraint. It requires experience. And it requires humility.
Because no matter how much expertise a provider has, your face is still yours.
You should feel heard. You should feel respected. And you should always feel like you have a voice in your treatment.
At Charmed Medispa, under my direction, that philosophy is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in enhancing, not changing. In guiding, not pushing. And in creating results that feel effortless, natural, and truly aligned with you.
Because at the end of the day, aesthetics should never be about the provider.
It should always be about you.
Best, be well, Loraine
