We offer a variety of impressive laser services like IPL, laser resurfacing and laser hair removal. We have a full spectrum of lasers to address all your skin care concerns and conditions.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a state of the art system, and the latest technique in photofacials. The IPL system delivers high intensity, smooth and powerful pulses of light that targets sun spots, redness and broken capillaries. The freckles and excessive redness clears up without flaking of the skin. IPL can be performed anywhere on the body and is popular for the face, neck and chest but can be done on the arms, shoulders and back.
Laser Resurfacing can dramatically improve wrinkles, sun damage and textured spots (spots that are raised). Laser resurfacing is very customized to your desired outcome and commitment. We perform light resurfacing treatments, Laser Polish, to more aggressive resurfacing therapies, Laser Transform. This treatment uses an Erbium laser to remove unwanted skin layers to reveal newer, refreshed skin. Laser resurfacing also builds new collagen and enhances cellular skin health.
Laser Hair Removal works on removing and reducing unwanted hairs in any area of the face or body. Laser hair removal can be performed on any area with dark hair and lighter skin colors. If hairs are white or grey, laser hair removal is not effective. Laser hair removal is done in a series of treatments with no downtime. Laser hair removal also helps razor bumps and irritated hair follicles to improve.
What to expect
Our registered nurse, Loraine Savarese, or state-licensed Medical Aesthetican, Shae Ryan, closely examines each client during an initial consultation to determine what treatments best match your desired goals. Our providers are Certified Aesthetic Laser Operators by the National Council on Laser Certification which is considered the highly level of training and expertise for laser therapies. Rest assured you are in expert hands.
The treatments may require application of a topical gel or anesthetic to numb the treatment area. Our certified laser operator providers will then use the hand-held IPL or laser device to direct the treatment in your area of concern.
IPL is a simple and fast technique with minimal discomfort used to treat freckles, photodamage, age spots, rosecea, scars and redness. Clients typically feel some warm sensations, or a very mild stinging during the treatment. Cold air is used to make the treatment comfortable. Occasionally, you may have some mild swelling after treatment. Because you are treated by an expert, you will need less treatments than providers who have less experience. Many of our guests are thrilled to see how impressive IPL results are. Without downtime and no flaking of the skin, you can obtain a significant reduction in sun spots and redness. IPL is one of the most popular treatments at Charmed Medispa because of it’s effectiveness and ease.
Laser therapies like Laser Transform and Laser Polish are used to resurface the skin to improve wrinkles, textured spots and lesions and tighten skin. The treatment is customized for each individual with no downtime to a few days of crusting and dryness. Consider that the more days of transition you have back to normal, you will have a better, more dramatic result. Pixel and Fraxel are trade names for skin resurfacing that we offer. Think of laser resurfacing as a gentle to more moderate sand papering of the skin to smooth out wrinkles, lines, stretch marks and scarring.
Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Therapies can be combined on the same day so that you can get improvement of wrinkles, brown spots, textured lesions and more. In addition, skin tightening can be done at the same time. Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Therapies can be used on the face, neck, chest, decolletage, arms, hands, and back. IPL and laser are highly satisfying with dramatic results that last.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) can also be combined with a chemical peel the same day. This is a favorite combination at Charmed Medispa since you get the best of removing pigmentation, sun spots and redness and the peel benefits of refreshing the skin, improving pores and additional skin brightening.
Results
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Results with IPL and Laser Therapies are typically seen after one or two treatments, depending on the nature of the problem. Severe conditions may require additional treatments. You can expect dramatic improvements in our customized Intense Pulsed Light treatments.
Laser Resurfacing
Laser resurfacing like Pixel and Fraxel are highly customized treatments which can include no downtime to several days of redness, flaking and no makeup application. The results of laser resurfacing are completely based on the condition of the skin and the commitment of our guests. If they prefer light laser therapies with no downtime and almost immediate makeup application, the results are more gradual and you will need more treatments based on your desired outcome. If you would like more dramatic results with less treatments, we can perform more therapeutic laser therapies that will have a greater impact on acne scarring, deeper wrinkles and lines and even textured lesions.
Laser Hair Removal
Hair removal will require several treatments before the desired outcome is achieved. Laser hair removal typically takes 6-8 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart. Laser Hair Removal also helps with bumps and irritated hair follicles. Our guests love the silky, smooth skin after laser hair removal and the not having to shave.

FAQs
Who is a good candidate?
IPL is an excellent choice for men and women of all ages who are considering treatment for various hair or skin problems, including:
- Brown or age spots
- Facial spider veins
- Hair removal
- Rosacea
- Skin pigmentation
- Superficial wrinkles
- Scarring
What is Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)?
IPL devices use multiple wavelengths of light to treat sun-induced changes on the face, including brown pigmentation, age spots and broken blood vessels. IPL is also used to treat the facial changes of Rosacea, including redness and broken blood vessels. IPL may be used for these changes on the hands, neck, chest, arms, and back as well. It is safe, non-invasive and tailored to the individual patient’s skin. The most common reasons people undergo IPL are to remove freckles, treat redness on the face and chest and improve scars. It is a simple office treatment with significant results!
Is IPL painful?
When the pulses of light are applied to the skin, patients feel some stinging, similar in sensation to the snapping of a small rubber band against the skin. At Charmed Medispa, we use a cold air device to dramatically reduce the “snapping” feeling of Intense Pulsed Light. Use of this device improves treatment tolerance as well as post-treatment skin sensations.
How is IPL performed?
The treatment area is cleansed and a cool gel is applied to the area being treated. Protective eye wear is always used to protect the patient’s eyes from the light. With the patient in a comfortable, relaxed position, the IPL hand piece is gently applied to the skin and light pulses are applied. Treatments usually take 30-60 minutes, depending on which area is being treated.
How many treatments will I need?
Patients generally have a series of two to six treatments, approximately one month apart. Most patients with freckles will see a dramatic reduction in one or two treatments! Redness of the face usually takes 2-3 treatments, and scarring can take three or more treatments.
How will I look after each treatment?
Many patients experience a few days of pink to redness and mild swelling after the IPL procedure. Some brown spots may appear darker for a few days and then peel off. You can apply makeup immediately after IPL treatment if necessary. Most clients consider this treatment to have no downtime, and immediately resume normal activities.
What skin care is needed before and after IPL treatment?
It is imperative that the area being treated is not tan the day of the procedure. Other areas on the body can be tan but not the treatment site. Afterwards, it is important to protect your skin from the sun using a sunscreen daily. Some clients might need to use a sensitive skin cleanser and moisturizer for about a week before resuming their normal skincare routine. If you use Retin A, you should discontinue it a few days before treatment.
How long does the skin improvement last?
We like to say, you “turn the clock back” with this type of procedure, but the clock keeps ticking! Most people complete their treatments and then return for a maintenance treatment once or twice a year if needed … though with excellent skin care management, many clients don’t feel the need to have more treatments! Intense Pulsed Light can give you long-lasting results. This is one of our most popular treatments, with high satisfaction!
