People Are Always Going to Judge… So You Might as Well Love Your Reflection
Let’s be honest for a minute.
People have opinions about everything. Too much makeup. Not enough makeup. Too dressed up. Too casual. Too much Botox. Not enough skincare. Too natural. Too glamorous.
No matter what you do, someone is going to have something to say. So here’s my question… why are we still letting other people’s opinions decide how we feel about ourselves?
One of the funniest things I hear in my treatment room is, “I don’t want anyone to know I had Botox.”
My response?
“Good. Neither do I want you to look like you’ve had Botox.”
At Charmed Medispa in Newark, Delaware, our goal has never been to make you look like someone else. We don’t want people looking at you and thinking, “She definitely had work done.” We want them wondering if you just got back from vacation, started sleeping eight hours a night, or discovered the world’s best skincare routine.
That’s the difference between natural aesthetic medicine and chasing trends.
The reality is that aesthetic treatments still come with opinions. People will joke about Botox while getting their hair colored every six weeks. They’ll criticize filler while whitening their teeth. They’ll spend hundreds of dollars on luxury skincare but think a laser treatment is somehow “too much.”
When you really stop and think about it, we’re all investing in ourselves in different ways.
Some people buy golf clubs. Some people renovate their kitchens. Some people take expensive vacations. Some people have gym memberships they actually use.
And some people choose to invest in healthy, glowing skin and subtle aesthetic treatments. None of those choices are wrong. They’re simply personal. What I’ve learned after years of treating patients is that the happiest people aren’t trying to impress anyone else.
They’re doing it because they feel better. They’re the woman who finally stops avoiding photos. They’re the grandfather who says he looks less tired during business meetings. They’re the busy mom who catches her reflection in the mirror and thinks, “There I am.”
That’s what confidence looks like. Confidence isn’t about looking twenty-five forever. It’s about looking in the mirror and feeling like your outside matches how youthful, energetic, and vibrant you still feel on the inside. Unfortunately, social media has made it easy for everyone to become an expert with an opinion.
Someone will tell you Botox is “cheating.”
Someone else will tell you you’re aging naturally.
Another person will tell you that skincare is a waste of money.
The truth is, none of those people have to live in your skin.
You do.
And that’s why their opinion shouldn’t carry more weight than your own.
At Charmed Medispa, we actually spend a lot of time telling patients what they don’t need. We believe that saying “no” is just as important as knowing when to say “yes.” We don’t believe in overfilled lips, frozen foreheads, or making everyone look the same. We believe in thoughtful treatments that enhance your natural features while keeping you looking like… you.
That’s why so many of our patients tell us the best compliment they receive isn’t, “Did you have something done?”
It’s, “You look so refreshed.”
That’s exactly what we’re aiming for.
If you’ve ever hesitated to schedule a consultation because you were worried about what someone else might think, let me leave you with this.
People are always going to have opinions.
They’ll have opinions if you do something.
They’ll have opinions if you do nothing.
So make your decisions based on the person who matters most.
The one looking back at you in the mirror every morning.
If you feel more confident, more refreshed, and more like yourself after a treatment, that’s what matters.
At Charmed Medispa in Newark, Delaware, we’re here to help you feel like the best version of yourself—not someone else’s version of beauty. Because confidence isn’t about pleasing everyone around you. It’s about loving the reflection that smiles back at you.
