Fast, safe and effective
If you’re not happy with shaving, tweezing or waxing to remove unwanted hair, laser hair removal may be an option worth considering. Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, leg, arm, underarm, bikini line and other areas of the body.
Laser hair removal is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in the U.S. Highly concentrated light is beamed into hair follicles. Pigment in the follicles absorb the light, destroying the hair.
But please keep in mind that laser hair removal is more than simply the ”zapping” of unwanted hair — it is a medical procedure which requires training to perform and carries potential risks.
Loraine Olson and Shae Ryan are both nationally Certified Laser Operators-Aesthetic with over 10 years of laser experience each.
For those clients for whom laser hair removal isn’t a suitable option, we also offer waxing for eyebrows, upper lip, face and chin.
Laser Hair Removal Benefits
Lasers can selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.
Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second, treating many hairs in an area roughly the size of a quarter each second. Small areas like the upper lip can be treated in a few minutes. Larger areas such as the back or legs may take an hour or more.
Most patients have permanent hair reduction and loss in 4-10 sessions. How many treatments an individual may need will depend on skin type and the unique overall amount of hair grown.
Before undergoing laser hair removal, clients should limit plucking, waxing, and electrolysis for 6 weeks before treatment. That’s because the laser targets hair roots, which are temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.
Sun exposure should also be avoided for 6 weeks before and after treatment. Sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective, and complications after treatment more likely. Artificial tanners must also be avoided for at least 10 days before a session.
